New starts, projects and decisions

It’s time for an update after such a long time with no progress at all. There has been a lot going on in the background to keep me away from the modelling bench, however it is a little easy to let that be the reason for lack of modelling mojo.

I have been to and fro across several modelling fronts for a while now. First up there was Splitters Swamp creek (show layout), then Eugowra branch (home layout), Hoskins Hollow ( new HO show layout) and finally Beenleigh (new O show layout). The learning that I’ve taken onboard is that multiple projects only enables procrastination. So what does this lead me to? My Hoskins Hollow layout has lead me to a place I don’t like at all, indecision. A new technique I’ve learnt recently is leaving a thing for a bit and circle back after a break to refresh. Well here I am after several rotations, and still with no progress.

The other night a couple of mates came over and there were various chats about modelling, holidays and life in general, refreshing and encouraging. I am now choosing two roads to follow, so that I can cycle from one to the other when I need a break. They are a shunting layout version of Eugowra, an exercise in light module construction, and Beenleigh in O scale that will also be of lightweight construction.

To begin down this road I am building the Goods shed to get things moving. I’m also hoping that by breaking the project down into smaller chunks that the mojo may also return.

So take this as a declaration of progress, mark this spot, or date, and let’s see how it goes!

I am looking forward to making a real start, it has been too long.

Have a great week!

Oorroo!

Geoff.
